Why are Amiibos rare?

A lot of Amiibo enthusiasts have speculated that some amiibo figures are more rare than others. Kind of like how Poke'mon trading cards can be rare when you find that one Rayquaza EX. But this is different. Anyway, some have speculated amiibo to be rare by the following:

*Popularity

*Games in their respective franchises

*Retailers not selling a lot of a certain figure on purpose (Dam you Best Buy Meta Knights! :P)

*Nintendo not making enough figures to deliver to retailers

But it is not the retailers' fault for the shortages. I know, shocking. The thing is, Nintendo probably hasn't been making enough figures. This is personally what I think, but you can interpret this in any other way you want.

As of today (12/15/15) the amiibo shortage problem is gone, with rare figures lowering in price on Amazon, and restocks happening every month.

This briefly explains what used to be the whole amiibo issue. Maybe next time you see a rarity rating on one of my announced amiibo pages, you will think of this. If you want more info, there are plenty of videos on YouTube by amiibo enthusiasts that discuss rarity and live footage of buying a rare amiibo in store, in a way proving how rare said amiibo is. I reccommend Pituvision's Amiibo Hunter Playlist. Go to the Amiibo Community page for the link to his channel.
